I want to buy a guitar that is good for playing metal and is about $300 to $400. I thought about getting and Epiphone but im not sure if its good for metal. And i also thought about getting an Ibanez cuz i no that their good for metal. But what other ones could i get.

I just bought a new pack of guitar strings for my acoustic guitar and when I was replacing the the lower e(thinnest bottom one), it broke in two. So I was wondering if there is any place online where I can buy one Lower e light gauge guitar string. I live in US.
I am planning to buy an acoustic soundhole pickup(magnetic).
I was just going to plug in the jack into my cd player
(since i don’t have a guitar amp..it’s way expensive)
then i wondered if i needed ‘preamp’ to get the amplifying done.
i don’t want to spend too much. i don’t need any sound effects…
Is preamp necessary?

I’m planning on buying an electric guitar in China while I’m visiting, but can you connect a guitar bought in China to an amp bought in America? I wouldn’t want to bring an amp home all the way from China.
Should I buy the guitar kit with DvD’s included and strap and such. oR BUY A BETTER GUITAR AND ALL THE OTHER items seperately? This will be a birthday present for my 14 yr old son who has started last year on an electric but lost interest, says he would rather try an acoustic. I would say 500. would be the higher end of what I would spend. Your experienced input much appreciated.
