I got this for my 6 year old Granddaughter for Christmas as she loves to sing. Much to my dismay, my daughter returned it tome in February. They had sturggled with it for a month after Christmas trying to get it to work. Well, I tried to return it , but it was PAST the date to return items. Now I am stuck with a toy that doesn’t work and my granddaughter didn’t get a present. Thanks a lot!

I bought this for my 5 year old niece as she loves to sing. After putting in the batteries (4AA, not included) and plugging it into the television, we attempted to sing one of the 20 include songs. What a disappointment – we couldn’t hear a thing! I thought maybe it was my niece’s soft voice, but when I tried to sing, I could not hear anything either. You had to practically yell to get your voice heard through the tv, and by that point, all you could hear was your own voice shouting into the microphone. Turning up the tv volume had no effect either. You physically had to cup the microphone with your hands to create enough volume for it to register with the television. And also the sound quality of the music was terrible. If you’re expecting the songs from the movies, you will be disappointed. All you get are MIDI tunes (which sound like the monophonic tunes from earlier generations of cell phones). Basically it sounds like an electronic harmonica is playing your song. Also the “other” voices you can try (dragon, horse, bird and mouse) don’t work very well – but that could be because the microphone couldn’t pick up any sound anyhow! I wish I could return the toy but it’s at my sister’s house now and since I gave it to them as a present, it’s difficult to have them return it. Needless to say, extremely disappointed.

This is a wonderful toy and does everything stated in the editorial review BUT the additional cartridges are NOT available. The 20 pre-programmed songs that come with the microphone are some of the most difficult Disney tunes to sing and the cartridges that are supposed to expand your libray of tunes are nowhere to be found. The box tells you they can be found at the disney electronics website which does have a description and songlist but does not sell them. As far as I can tell, they have not yet been manufactured. Buy this toy only if the 20 included songs are ones you or your child like to sing. Don’t count on expanding your songlist.

i don’t think this product is worth the price you have to pay. the songs aren’t the real, movie versions. they almost remind me of cell phone ring tones. it would be a nice option to have a voice sing with you also. i bought this for my [...] year old, and she can’t read yet. the words pop up on the screen. so it would work out better for a child a little bit older.
