The toy is about pricy so I went searching and found it priced cheaper else where. I was a bit hesitant to even give my child, who turned 4, this gift for Christmas. He had a blast, I had a blast. We both had a blast. I do agree the background music does over power the drum set but my son could careless. He enjoys the sounds comming from it and just bangs away like a drummer. I’m loving it as his first musical instrument and he has no problems. Very happy I did not read the reviews prior to buying. As long as you price around, then the price for the item is worth it. Would not spend over $30 bucks on this.

First, the packaging is open-front store display, and the drum pads are covered in soft foam, and I got it from Target via Amazon. Two of the drum pads were nicked when I got it in the mail (I didn’t send it back). The whole toy feels “cheap.”. The handle isn’t solid and creaks. The battery door is really poorly designed and made out of poor material. The music select buttons are also poorly made. It seems like the small parts molding was outsourced to someone with limited experience, and they used old or poorly maintained molds. The sound quality is really poor, and the volume knobs are pretty sketchy (you have to fiddle with the sliders to getsound). The MP3 input works, but there is a “blocked off” headphone jack hole next to the MP3 input hole, which just reinforces the impression that this unit has been cost-reduced to death. I’ve had decent luck with First-Act stuff before, but this really is a piece of junk that should have been kicked to Big Lots. You really will notice the lack of quality and value.

The volume level is awful. You can turn it all the way up and not even be able to here it. It is not durable and is made from cheap plastic.

We had bought this product for my daughter’s 4th birthday a few months back. The plastic was cheap. As the previous review mentioned, the volume was too low. The worst part of it was that this product stopped working after only 2 months of play. My daughter is not one to bang too hard or throw her toys around. Her play is quite “gentle.” Therefore, I’m not sure how this product broke, except that it was poorly made.

I was initially excited when my son got this drum set from his grandparents for Christmas. While it does have a lot of features and sounds, the drums themselves are barely audible and two of them, the bass drum and the hi-hat, don’t make any sound at all. My son mainly just uses it to play the different rhythms now since the drum pads don’t produce anything satisfying.
