    I took one look at this stand and thought: Guitar Hero.

    It’s lightweight, compact, and cheap. I bought a few to showcase my Guitar Hero guitars for parties. Yes, I know I’m a nerd. lol. When not in use, I toss my guitars in a corner and put the stands away in a drawer. They hardly take up any space. They make good gifts for your “band buddies.”

    The stand is essentially 2 L shaped pieces of molded plastic. Each L is made of thin plastic with cross-braces. They are held together with 2 hinges that also appear to be plastic, so don’t expect a very long life. The hinges have a sort of spring-action to them, so they snap back to flat when there isn’t a guitar sitting in the “cradle” as I will call it.

    To give you a sense for how small and compact these are, when they’re folded they weigh just 4.125 ounces. That’s 1/3 of a pound. It’s less than 1″ thick when folded. When standing the back support is 8.5″ tall, and the legs are 8.5″ from the hinge to the end of the cradle. The cradle is 3.5″ wide. More on that later.

    I never intended to use them with real guitars. That said, I DO have a handful of guitars, so I thought I’d give them a shot.

    The stand is too flimsy, slippery and short to support the weight of a solid body electric guitar. The back is too short so the guitar rests at a sharp angle. It will topple over backwards or slip and fall to the side. My full size dreadnought won’t fit in the stand at all.

    If you need a real stand, for $8, you could buy an On-Stage or Musician’s Gear guitar stand from Amazon, GuitarCenter, or Musician’s Friend. So if you’re looking for a cheap stand that will actually support a real guitar, look for those. But those stands won’t pack away in a drawer as easily and weigh 10X as much as these little plastic stands.

    Bottom Line:

    5 stars for being the best all-around Guitar Hero/Rock Band guitar stand.

    0 stars for failing to function as marketed.

    3 stars for price. After all, for the same money, you could have a real steel stand.

    Average, rounding up, I give it 3 stars.

    My daughter has a 1/2 size childs guitar and it would not fit in this stand. It says on the package that its for all first-act discovery guitars, but our guitar would not fit in this stand. Maybe its made for a doll guitar! LOL

    I was looking for a cheap guitar stand for a full sized guitar and thought I had found just the thing. It came and it is tiny! I saw nowhere on the sight that it is for a toy guitar. It was not worth the mailing fee to return it so I guess I will have to find another creative use for it. Maybe a music stand like the other reviewer suggested.

    I purchased this product at Target. The back piece is so high and up close to the base, there is not enough angle for a gaitar to rest. I guess I can use this product is as a music stand…

    Please note- this is not made for a full-size guitar! It is made for the children’s size First Act DISCOVERY guitars, for which it works perfectly.
