The B-II allows me to turn down the gain and volume on my battery powered bass amp by Pignose, the Hog-30. As a result, I’m now getting at least two more hours out of the amp’s twin motorcycle-batteries. My passive Kala U-Bass (a ukulele bass!) sounds great with this device. The only gotcha that I’ve noted is that it is relatively easy to overdrive my 30-watt amp. It didn’t take long to discover the sweet spot, however. The Fishman B-II preamp makes my unplugged Pignose sing longer now. Yipee!

Really a breakthrough in the musicality of the signal from my K&K Sound Bass Max piezo pickup. Without it, the sound from both my Line6 LowDown and my Fender Bassman amps was sort of clipped and brittle. I run it as a pure pre-amp, maxed-out on volume, zeroed-out on bass and treble. Well worth the money for any upright bass player.

If you play the Upright Bass, don’t leave home without it. At one place our band plays quite often, I could not get any signal to the PA system. (I have a REALIST PU). The patch panel was at least 50 ft from the mixing board. I added the Fishman B-II using a one foot cable from the bass to the Fishman then my 20ft cord to the patch panel. WOW! what a difference. The place we play is in an huge barn and you could make the whole place vibrate if you turned it all the way up. Saved me from having to carry in my own amp.

The preamp works just fine with my accoustic bass. I believe $50 is a reasonable price for it. I have to set the volume control at max to get the same loudness as I get with a preamp I built myself. That preamp has a voltage gain of 0db. Why did I buy this, when I already have a preamp? Just to have a spare.
