Based on information I read in the other ratings displayed, I ordered the Huang 1248 with the expectation of buying a quality instrument. My order arrived quickly and the instrument is very nice looking. However, I found it nearly impossible to play notes softly in the lower and upper octaves of the “C” section. A large amount of air is required to achieve any tone and the tone is loud and brassy. Using the “C#” section of the instrument, I was able to achieve in both lower and upper octaves tones that were totally controllable in volume. I never experienced this condition using my Hohner, so I don’t believe it’s my technique. I’m very hesitant to recommend this instrument.

This chromatic is a wonderful musical instrument. It has given me many hours of enjoyment. Get this chromatic and a good fake book (The Ultimate Fake Book, Gospel Fake Book etc) and never know a dull moment for the rest of your life.
The harmonica feels good in the hand, is quite responsive and has a very nice sound. What more could you ask for in a chromatic.

Just purchased the Hurricane 1248 chromatic harmonica. As other reviewers have remarked the blow and draw notes are hard. To correct this the gaps for the reeds must be reduced by very carefully bending each reed in. I have done this with mine and it is very much improved. The general construction of this harmonica is quite good but not up to quality of Hohner or Hering . In my estimation it is the best harmonica value out there (when you regap the reeds).

As one new to the harmonic world, I am pretty pleased with my 16-hole chromatic. I knew what I was getting when I ordered it. However, to any new harpists out there- don’t be impulsive like me and buy the one with the most holes. Although the main reason for my purchase is that the 12 and 14-holes were unavailable. Start low (10 to 12-hole, diatonic or chromatic) and build up if/when you feel like it. It’s easier. As for the product, I dig it, and when I’m better (and have more bread), I will upgrade to something even cooler. For now, Hurricane and I are blowin’ the wind back. If you can’t find it/them on Amazon, go to Google and plug in The Instrument Store. Get yours and go play.

Like one other reviewer I found this instrument hard to play. IT is well made but very hard to get decent notes in the higher and lower ranges.Its not all due to lack of experience either because I dont have trouble with the other brand I bought.
