(r)evolution Of Rock Guitar-fractal Audio Axe-fx Ultra Preamp/effects
(R)evolution of Rock Guitar – Fractal Audio Axe-Fx Ultra Preamp/Effects processor – Part I – Played by Ketil Strand. This is a new version of my “Evolution of Rock Guitar” videos, which is also a demo of my new Fractal Audio Systems Axe-Fx Ultra Pre-amp/Effects processor. Most of the tracks are the same as in the original version, but I’ve taken away a few and added some new ones instead. This time I used the Axe-Fx Ultra exclusively for all guitar sounds and effects and recorded it direct in Cubase, no extra “tricks” done in the mix or anything, it’s all coming from the Axe-Fx (except the backing tracks of course..) But I’m using many different guitars as shown and mentioned in the video. I’ve also mentioned some of the amp types and effects from the Axe-Fx that I’m using on the different tracks, if anybody should need specific details about specific parameters and stuff, please contact me (the Axe-Fx has thousands of parameters to adjust..). @HiggsFenderU2 Thanks! Yes, I made the preset myself, I used the Tweed Amp setting, and added some compresson, short delay and small chamber reverb

@Fear3001 I’m still waiting for my Fractal Audio MFC101 (like many others..), but in the meantime I’m just using a Roland EV-5 exp pedal and a Roland on/off switch connected to the two pedal inputs on the back.

Hi, did you make that Johny B. Goode preset yourself, or was it built in, cause hi, that was unbelievable. Sounded exactly the same as his own!!!!
Cheers,
Matt.

@bennyvx08 No, actually you don’t need that. At home or in a studio you can just go direct into a mixer and listen through headphones or studio monitors, and for live use you can just go direct to the PA mixer and use the provided monitoring (if you trust the sound guy..;-)

@rednebb Yeah I guess. Yet now I am into a lot of Electronic and Dubstep type music. I still love all those oldies though, plus some new stuff now and then.
July 10th, 2010 at 4:12 pm
@Y2k2O Thanks! No, that’s not weird, it’s cool! So I guess you’ve been raised well musically then.. ?
July 10th, 2010 at 4:34 pm
Wow. You’re great man.
Is it weird that I am only 15 and I’ve heard every one of those songs?

(forts.)

Veldig mye fint her! Jeg bare lufter tanker her
Utrolig bra og for-seg-gjort demo! Det skal du jammenmeg ha!

@danyeo Thanks. I’ve had a few similar comments, but please remember that you can’t expect high quality sound from youtube, regardless if it’s a modeler or a tube amp you’re listening to. In a real live setting, I think it would be difficult separating a well-tuned Axe-Fx Ultra from any tube amp, also on the dirty tones..
July 10th, 2010 at 6:27 pm
I liked the whole video up until about the 5 minute mark,. All the dirty tones sound a bit flat and have more in common with a POD than the real amps the Axe is trying to emulate. The clean tones and verbs sound fantastic though.

@sithemon Cool, thanks! And good luck with your new Axe-Fx!
