I bought these speakers unsure if they would be iPhone compatible – but they are! You do get the “airplane mode” warning we’ve all come to love from our older devices with the new phone, but once you click “no” there is no interference, sounds is fantastic & it charges the iPhone 3G as well! (Sync is accomplished immediately once I connected the USB cable to the macbook also – setup was a cinch!).
The advantage > a dock is the separation of speakers as opposed to one unit. Bass response is awesome as well, and at only 1/3 the capable volume I am very pleased.
I have been looking for an iPhone dock/speaker system to implement with my macbook as well, and this was perfect for me!
My only complaint is that the power cord is very short (5′) and the speaker cable included is 24AWG, but not proprietary so it’s not a big deal. The USB cable is about 5′ as well, but easily replaceable with a standard style unit. The speakers were smaller than the box implied, about as tall as a DVD case, and as wide as a CD case.
Sound quality is important to me – which is why I liked the USB connection > a headphone connection. Digital sound is higher quality and you won’t get any “hiss” or static with these units. I had never heard of Samson products before but I’m sold on them now; get these speakers and you will be too!

I’ll make this quick and to the point. These monitors come just as advertised. They are small, easy to set up, put out great sound with deep, rich bass tone and the iPod dock is just icing on the cake.
I’m building a small, digital studio and needed monitors. These fit the bill perfectly.
The only downside is…. well, there isn’t one!
I think these would also be great for an office area where you would want sound while working on your computer or maybe even a den or living room.

I purchased these speakers with multiple uses in mind and, so far, no disappointments. Specifically, I will be using them to: a. play music from my iPod, b. output sound from my Samsung tv when I’m watching a DVD, and, c. stream audio content from my MacBook Pro using the built-in USB port (cable included) when I’m accessing content from the computer or from the Internet.
These were the 3 functions I was hoping for and (to my delight) I now have with the addition of these speakers.

I have had an earlier version of this speaker (no ipod dock) for more than a year and listen to them nearly every day. These are a great value at about $100. Most of the computer speakers you find are junk even when they cost twice as much. These speakers are very clear and distinct, solid, no vibration and have a smooth trajectory across the sound plane from low to high. Bass is solid as are the highs, and the mids are not washed out. I recommend them to all my friends and would buy them again. FYI, I listen to jazz, rock, folk, classical and latin. All genres are represented superbly.

These Samson StudioDock 3i speakers are great. I use them in the living room, and do not use them w/ a computer – stricly w/ my iphone 3Gs. Sound quality is superb; crisp, good bass and capable of being very loud. I am not a “techie”, but for the $91.66 range this is an exceptional product. – Phone will ring through on the speakers when someone calls, while the iphone is docked and playing music, so that’s also great. They even seem to charge the iphone sometimes, but don’t expect this.
