I have a pair of these that I use for recording vocals on live bands (churches and small bars). I’ll swap them out with the house mics (typically an SM-58 or equivalent dynamic). In several cases this was the first condenser an artist had used, and they’ve always liked the obvious ‘new’ sound. The fidelity is a significant upgrade, but there’s always the limiting factor of the $10 mic pre built in to the house mixer board. Used with a good outboard pre, it is a very strong mic for the money. Yes there are better mics but this puts me reasonably at the point of diminishing returns. Although cardioid, it is VERY sensitive to the angle at which it is held-make sure it is parallel with the mouth, or you lose much of the sibilance.
